If you are having pains in the butt, it is simply means that a muscle in the gluteal area is tight and inflamed. This decreases the transmission or flow of the nerve in the body. Gluteal pain may come from the following reasons; muscle problems, piriformis, sciatica and others due to the thigh and down to the foot. Most pain in the butt just come and go but sometimes this can worsen. There are a lot of causes of pain in the gluteal area and it is not easy to diagnose. People may diagnose their gluteal pain as sciatica which is a set of symptoms with pain caused by irritation of one nerve roots. It may feel like a bad leg cramp that lasts for weeks. For the treatment of pain may depends how severe it is but usually can be done with stretching exercise and massage just avoid bicycling and running.
